Our Mission

Multi-Ethnic Education and Economic Development Center is a non-profit 501 (C) 3 organization established to assist the low-to-moderate income with entrepreneurial support, business development, education, job training, and community events.

Our History

In the late 1990's, the Greater Dallas Asian American Chamber of Commerce (GDAACC) realized the need to aid the growing Asian American community of immigrants and refugees from the Southeast Asia who were resettled in East Dallas. The goal was to offer a place where they could grow socially and financially while adjusting to their new home.

Little Asia, as the center was originally known, was founded in 1999. The center originally served the Asian clientele that was its target. Soon, it began attracting clients from other parts of the world including Latin America, Eastern Europe, Africa and India. To reflect this melting pot, the office was renamed the Multi-Ethnic Education and Economic Development Center.

With time, the focus of the MEED Center evolved from community and cultural assistance to economic development through business education. This transformation culminated with the designation of the MEED Center as the 6th Business Assistance Center of the City of Dallas in 2003 and in 2010, we moved to the same facilities as the GDAACC in order to leverage our partnership with them.
